"It aims to promote artists who use paper as the main medium for their artwork and turn it into a contemporary, living medium" states Stéphane Hamelin, Chairman of the Hamelin Group and the Canson® Fund for Art and Paper.

The Canson® Fund for Art and Paper will work towards the development and recognition of young talents by supporting outstanding artistic and cultural events, both nationally and internationally

Canson prize
  The Canson® Prize

One of the initiatives of the Fund is the creation of the Canson® Prize awarded each year by a panel of key figures from the world of art and culture. It rewards the work of an artist whose work is the fruit of real research in the field of Art and Paper.

The panel headed by the painter Gérard Garouste, presented the very first Canson® Prize 2010 to Fabien Mérelle on 3 June 2010 at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. This young artist who graduated in 2006 uses watercolours and China ink to produce works in a surreal, minutely detailed style.
